ABOUT

Transition Nutrition helps athletes and everyday individuals heal their relationship with food, movement, and body image. We specialize in supporting life after sport—guiding former athletes through identity shifts, rediscovering purpose, and building a more meaningful, balanced life beyond competition.

Hallo! And welcome to Transition Nutrition.

We specialize in helping you heal your relationship with food, movement, and your body—while also helping you define what that actually looks like for you. Whether you're an athlete or not, our approach is personalized, compassionate, and rooted in real-life application.

We’re especially passionate about supporting life after sport—because transitioning out of athletics can feel confusing, overwhelming, and, honestly, like a loss of identity. Our goal is to help former athletes make this phase of life feel less frustrating and far more meaningful.

Athletes face unique challenges when it comes to nutrition, exercise, and body image. The pressure to perform, look a certain way, and stay disciplined often creates a complicated and deeply intertwined relationship with all three. We get how messy that can be—and you don’t have to untangle it alone.

That’s why our work goes beyond food and fitness. We also help you explore identity, rediscover purpose, and reconnect with your values—especially if you’re navigating life after competitive sports.

Whether you’re a current athlete, a former or retired athlete, or someone who’s never identified as one, you belong here. We’re really glad you found us.

Lizzie Briasco, MSc, RD, CSSD, LDN (she/her)
Former competitive distance runner turned anti-diet sports dietitian

Food has not always been my friend. Neither has my body.

I started competing in cross country/track & field at 10 years old. I earned my first national title at 15. By the time I was a senior D1 scholarship student-athlete, I was struggling with food, fitness, and my body. Hard.

My decade-long athletic career abruptly ended when a torn hip labrum led to surgery. My body started to change. Restrict/binge patterns became more prevalent (and exhausting). I found myself feeling scared and embarrassed to be around people because I felt so out of control around food, hated my body (and exercising), and I felt like the classic "washed up" athlete who no longer had the athletic accolades to prove my worth. The worst part? I felt so, so, unbelievably lonely.

In short, retiring from sport sucked.

I slowly but surely learned how to navigate all of that through a LOT of trial and error and what felt like last-ditch, radical efforts. Now, I use my experiences to relate to my clients, especially retired athletes, and my clinical expertise to guide them in healing their own relationships with identity, food, movement, and body.

Because food is more than fuel, you are more than a body, and life is more than sport.

Anti-diet & eating disorder dietitian

Hello! I'm so happy you're here.

I specialize in working with adults with eating disorders, disordered eating behaviors, and those who have experienced chronic dieting. I have previously worked at PHP, IOP, and outpatient levels of care for eating disorders with both adults and adolescents.

While I understand the desire to focus on weight loss, it is not the focus of our sessions.

I am a weight-neutral RD and practice from a non-diet, all foods fit, intuitive eating, and Health at Every Size approach, which I believe is crucial when working to restore your relationship with food.

I take a person-centered approach: I see clients as a whole and not as the disorder or issue they wish to overcome. I believe that in order to heal, one must feel seen and understood. I strive to meet clients with compassion exactly where they're at and provide them with tools and information, they can learn to use themselves.

My ultimate goal is to help guide you towards freedom from food rules and diet culture and to heal your relationship with food and body. Full recovery from an eating disorder is possible and I would be honored to support you on your journey!

Outside of work, you can find me spending time outside, reading in the park, and playing with my dog. I'm also a somewhat seasoned traveler and have visited over 30 countries - with new food experiences being central to my adventures!
